I've only read Yellowface and while I appreciated the message it conveyed, that pancake scene traumatized me. This sounds like it could have a vaguely similar scene. 🤷♀️

Lol. I think your kid is the same age as my oldest...and I'm trying to convince him that maybe medical school overseas wouldn't be a bad idea. I've offered to watch his cat if he goes...that's his only tether.

There was a hand drawn map, too.
Spoiler alert: his Major went down behind enemy lines but managed to get back to his own camp. He went on to have a storied career in the Air Force & this crash is mentioned in his AF bio. My grandfather apparently never told my dad/his kids about this incident.

I have Discovering Wild Plants, Alaska, Western Canada, the Northwest by that author--the 2000 edition with a typo on the first page. 🙃
