Harding's demise and its somewhat connection to Alaska crossed my mind when we hosted Dictatorfest two weeks ago. Only because I vividly remembered reading this article: www.adn.com/alaska-life/...
The history of presidential visits to Alaska, starting with Warren G. Harding’s ill-fated ‘Voyage of Understanding’
Histories of Anchorage (first of two parts): In summer 1923, Warren G. Harding departed on an expansive tour that included the first trips to Alaska and Canada by a sitting president.

There was a hand drawn map, too.

Spoiler alert: his Major went down behind enemy lines but managed to get back to his own camp. He went on to have a storied career in the Air Force & this crash is mentioned in his AF bio. My grandfather apparently never told my dad/his kids about this incident.

I have Discovering Wild Plants, Alaska, Western Canada, the Northwest by that author--the 2000 edition with a typo on the first page. 🙃

That was his grandpa, not his dad, but yes, we can hope he gets his head out of T's rear and does the right thing.
