Curious how the column inches the @nytimes.com is going to spend trying to smear Mamdani over his college admissions paperwork will compare to the ink they spilled talking about Trump's repeated draft dodging.

I don't think it can be understated that it feels like the entire globe is watching Canada tonight. Reuters, Aljazeera, and BBC all have live feeds happening and its their top story on the home page.

This does not feel normal and given the current global landscape, it's both ominous and humbling.

Donald Trump is dismantling the foundations of American science—and in turn jeopardizing the AI boom he purports to champion, writes Matteo Wong:

Shocking and disgraceful. The biggest nationwide protests in decades, and the #NYTimes is hiding the story on page 18 of tomorrow's print edition -- instead of on the front page, where it belongs. @froomkin.bsky.social @jfallows.bsky.social @fairmediawatch.bsky.social www.nytimes.com/2025/04/05/u...

We are fighting back. Our movement has been silenced by the media here—but we are not backing down. This is what our streets looked like across multiple cities. Tomorrow, there will be more of us! Raise a glass to freedom.

Sometimes in this fast-moving and complex modern world, it’s hard to know what’s right and what’s wrong. But here’s a handy rule of thumb: If you are ever on one side of an issue, and Sesame Street is on the other, YOU’RE the bad guy.

Exactly fucking that 👇

If there's ZERO due process, then they can grab YOU, allege anything they like, and you have ZERO ability to challenge it. At all.

They could literally say ANYTHING they liked about you and you'd have no ability to challenge it

NONE
People try to excuse the disappearing of college students by saying they “must have done something wrong”.

You’re missing the point. ICE is grabbing people off the streets with no due process or accountability.

If it can happen to them, it can happen to you. You should care because it’s wrong.

So much cognitive dissonance, aka extreme double standards
The cognitive dissonance of a federal government that rejects vaccine science because they used to contain mercury and also allows power plants to side-step the Clean Air Act to spew mercury out of smokestacks baffles me. www.nytimes.com/2025/03/27/c...

Referring to a little-known provision, it said power plants and others could write to seek exemptions to mercury and other restrictions and that “the president will make a decision.”
