We were raised in a time when fear of the masses, & its resultant boundaries of propriety & etiquette, kept us from fully grasping the truly feral character of the rich. That fear is gone. Nero’s time has come again. We are only shadows on a chessboard to such people. From Cory’s thread:

Gettysburg & the tour guides do a lot to include the Rebels in their remembrance honors, as if all dead were equal. But Lincoln’s address plainly specifies the Union soldiers & their sacrifice. It wasn’t the South’s “cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion” he was talking about.
Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address: “ Bliss Copy Ever since Lincoln wrote it in 1864, this version has been the most often reproduced, notably on the walls of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington. I still love The Crystal World. The thrill of horror when I read its first description of a living being becoming slowly encased in jewel-like stones is still fresh. And the cover of the first edition, though, faded, is still like looking at a dream.

Within days everyone was talking about a failed website launch related to the health care law whose subsidies we just waged a shutdown over.”

Text message from Josh Shapiro… BREAKING: Pennsylvania is now driving out November SNAP benefits. After we won in court yesterday, we moved quickly to start getting benefits loaded on EBT cards and out the door - and we're working to get every Pennsylvanian currently waiting for federal food assistance benefits what they're owed.
