Ukraine can also cut off Russia from sea. Who will hurt more? 🤔

Does Kots take into account that Ukraine can also effectively blockade Russian Black sea ports and the costs to Russia will be more painful that blocking Odessa for Ukraine? This is probably the main reason why Russians have limited their attacks on Odessa port.

It would not help companies that export outside EU (0% VAT), but could help EU companies better compete against lower cost non-EU imports within EU where often labor standards are lower.

Since company files VAT return every month anyway the procedure is the same as now just that labor cost is added in the calculation of VAT return. That way more labor intensive or better salaried companies get lower effective VAT rate.

Nominal VAT rate could remain the same, but the company could claim back more VAT by including labor costs into its cost base that is used to calculate VAT return, thus reducing the effective VAT rate it pays.

They can try to take over any remaining private EU firm assets there which I fully welcome. To reduce the chances that any greedy Western corporation decides that investing #NaziRussia is a good idea.

No exact plans yet, unfortunately only assessment of impact of such move.

Wouldn’t the logic be that with nowhere to use newly produced missiles Russian stockpile would grow even faster? Hard to see this as an argument. Missile stockpile threat is a separate issue that “peace” will not resolve, but scaling up missile production in Ukraine and EU actually might.

I agree, German Greens were the coolest greens in Europe. Not being well versed in German politics, I was baffled by pre-election bashing and demonizing they got from CDU. From outside, they seem to be more logical partners than SPD.

Depressing to see how cheaply can they can be bought.

When I tried to understand x transparency policies, it was soon clear that there is zero transparency. Even the view numbers can be made up and nobody independent will be able to verify them. X apparently does not even allow audits by advertisers into their figures.

I wonder how much of X activity is actually genuine. When I used to be there, by the end it seemed that most of activity in accounts and posts I was interested in was generated artificially.

And many other factors.

Why is it typically assumed that it can get worse for Ukraine, but not for Russia? Doesn’t it depend on the level of support Ukraine gets from allies?
November 22, 2025 at 11:48 AM
Well, it is not like there are a lot environmentally friendly options anyway.
