#5debutalbums1014 Delphic - Acolyte (2010) Shortlived indie rock band that sounds like Bloc Party partying with 90's New Order. I'm not sure why they weren't bigger but seemed to have fizzled out after a self released mini-album in 2014. Where are you guys? #NowPlaying #MusicSky

An album that paints a picture, Kendrick's debut is in the running for my top five.

Andrew Montgomery - Rules By Dreams

Solo debut (and so far only album under his name) from the vocalist of my beloved Geneva; doesn’t quite reach the highs of his former band but still a fantastic listen.

Rudimental
2013

Not my normal cup of tea, but I have a soft spot for this drum & bass / pop album, particularly Waiting All Night.
Likely to miss out on my top 5 but not by much.

#5debutalbums1014 Swim Deep - Where The Heaven Are We (2013) This band briefly flirted with fame with their infectious dreamy pop that brings to mind Ride and The Roses. It's all fine but needs a bit more welly for me. Contemporaries Peace did it all a bit better. #NowPlaying

Flirting provocatively with my top 5 for #5DebutAlbums1014

I haven’t played this for way too long. A heavenly dive into synth drenched dream pop.

Is Tropical - "Native To"
2011

Forgot about these guys. Fun little album. I've seen them described as 'new rave', and I guess that's about accurate.

Side project/alias of RJD2. This kind of has the same feel as stuff like Shawn Lee or Clutchy Hopkins.

Decent debut from this rock band from Memphis. It kind of sounds like if The Black Keys were a stoner rock band.

Future - Pluto (2012)

This got a lot of plays from
me when it first came out , might not make it in my top 5 but it had a massive influence on so much that would come after it.

#5debutalbums1014 The Head And The Heart - S/T (2011) Firstly, a truly awful cover. That aside, this folky americana album hits the right spots. As a non-native, the lyrics seem to paint a gritty, yet romantic view of the USA. Just ignore that cover shot - ugh. #MusicSky

#5debutalbums1014 London Grammar - If You Wait (2013) Delicate and airy ballads. The focal point, Hannah Reid's voice, hovers mid way between the diffident vocal style of the XX and the overwrought histrionics of Florence Welch. Solid album. #MusicSky
