Yes! Mastwurf = clove hitch and then one can do it "half" for the Halbmastwurf. Sorry ibwas so excited about the long word that I mixed it up

Ah sorry I actually got it wrong - the clove hitch is the Mastwurf. Then you can half it to get the Halb-mastwurf for abseiling... which looks a bit different?

In german it's obviously Halbmastwurfsicherung (half mast throw fastening) - and even though it's clove hitch in English for climbing one can buy "HMS" carabiners (one then clove hitches into)
