Global Affairs Canada really needs to change its travel advisory for the United States from “take normal security precautions” to “exercise a high degree of caution.” If the U.S. is not safe for American residents, how could it possibly be safe for Canadian visitors?

I wish the news media would stop talking about democratic socialism like it's some sort of monolithic, dogmatic movement. The major monolithic, dogmatic movement in America today is Trumpism.

When political pundits use baseball and football analogies, my ears close. Little could be more trivializing than comparing the affairs of state to a sports game – and it's precisely their belief that politicians are simply playing games that alienates and angers much of the public.

Lawrence O'Donnell is a master of political apologetics. I don't mean this as a compliment. I care more about political ethics than political strategy. And for what it's worth, I'm tired of hearing dubious comparisons to the administration of Lyndon B. Johnson.

You can bear allegiance to the U.S. Constitution or MAGA, but you can’t do both. The name should really be MUGA: Make Un-Americans Gripe Again.
This is not what democracy looks like. Anyone who cares at all about the Constitution has to take a stand against this and against MAGA.
