Nurse Chester on duty.
Lying directly on my stomach.
Which is very sore.
But the eyes of concern…🥹

A book, a fire, and a foot warmer in the form of an adorably scruffy sheepadoodle.

I may be feeling like crap, but I’m still in heaven. 📚🐶🔥= ❤️

Feeling a bit spiritually dry of late. Going back to my old friend Evelyn Underhill, who in 1926 gave a retreat to clergy in the C of E (first laywoman to do so) which was then punished as “Concerning the Inner Life”. I return to it every so often and it never fails to rekindle a bit of holy fire.

During the “Wicked” TV Special, Marissa Bode who plays Nessa Rose, introduced the song “Defying Gravity” saying “Elphaba stands up to a power-hungry dictator” (a remark which earned thunderous applause). Though entirely true in the context of the narrative, her comment was censored and cut by NBC.

What a state of ignorance so many Americans must be in to see this as leadership.

All those who voted for Trump “because of his policies”….is this what you meant? His “concept” of a health care plan = buy your own, while never explaining who they’ll purchase it from or how they’ll get this money.

Sunday’s forecast. It never fails. Every year on Remembrance Sunday as we stand outside for the cenotaph service, we get driving winds and rain or snow or all of the above.

This is why I always plan my part with “cuts” - parts I can cut out to have pity on the cadets standing there shivering.

The company was incredible tonight. Passionate, vibrant, poignant - with gorgeous musical accompaniment on stage by soprano Rachel Wilson and cellist Coleman Itzkoff. Bravo!!i

First ballet of the season - “Procession” a new work for the National Ballet of Canada by the incredible choreographic partners Bobbi Jene Smith and Or Schraiber. James and I alway attend the pre-ballet talks in the patrons lounge. They always deepen my appreciation of the ballet I’m about to see.

Chester has a seasonal allergy that causes him to lick his legs, so we have to keep him from licking at night while we’re asleep.

Behold, his new leg warmers.

Floofdance! Oh what a feelin’

On Oct 16, 1950 C.S. Lewis published the first of his “Chronicles of Narnia” - The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. The novel was released in North America on this date, Nov 6, 1950.

So happy 75th anniversary to Aslan, Peter, Susan, Edmund, Lucy, Mr and Mrs. Beaver and Mr. Tumnus!
