to young people: you may at some point have heard about the Y2K problem. some people may have told you it wasn't a big deal

i need you to understand the only reason it wasn't a big deal was that everyone spent loads of time fixing code before it could become a problem, which is why it never did

Post the first game you actually completed!

Yep, same here, it's a hard thing to remember, but as a Genesis kid I know it was one of these two. I'm leaning to Sonic 2 since I didn't play that till I was a bit older, and as a kid I had trouble beating Marble Zone in Sonic 1.

Seriously! Regardless of whether you think grading games is good or not, doing this with a rechargable device is a BAD idea! I'm really surprised how many people don't realize that batteries can eventually expand even if you're not using them and are a SERIOUS fire hazard!
I hate when people get tricked into doing stupid stuff like this! NEVER EVER use a video game grading company to seal new consoles that include batteries. You're basically locking a battery inside a sealed plastic coffin that will either expand, leak, or explode. Beyond incredibly dumb. 🤦‍♂️

Metroid Prime 4 is SO GOOD so far! I've only just beaten the Volt Forge boss, but I'm really into it so far!

Got to play the Metroid Prime 4 demo today (I can't buy the game yet since Christmas is coming). It just leads up to the first boss, but holy smokes! It looks and plays great! So excited!

This is the first time I've backed a Kickstarter for a piece of hardware (the only other one I've backed in general is the Hand Drawn Guide for Mega Man). I'm excited to see this eventually come to fruition! Seems like a LOT people believe in this one too lol

Isn't it great when your brain picks such a niche thing to hyper fixate on that there's only like, two pieces of media out there?

Man, I was digging through YouTube late and found my new favorite thing lol. If you know the old Rock-afire Explosion animatronics, these are their cooler, space themed cousins, The Moonrockers! They were meant to be a retrofit for them and never actually sold, but these characters are awesome!

In Mario Kart World, NPCs will park their cars, exit them, and walk around. However, the game does not actually keep track who each car belongs to. As such, a different NPC than the owner may drive away with a car, seemingly stealing it.

Ok, this may be coping hard, but we are at a NON-ZERO CHANCE of getting an official release of Dragon Hopper now. The Virtual Boy Switch app needs titles to help fill it out, (iirc) Nintendo owns the rights to the game, and they did this with Star Fox 2 on SNES... I can hope lol

Honestly the big takeaway from the Mania 2 thing is ‘you should buy Penny’s Big Breakaway’

It’s an extremely charming game that you can really tell the team loved working on (and I hear it runs great on Switch 2, since there’s a framerate unlock toggle in the options)

As of today, tech part of #tinytoon DX for #gameboycolor should be complete : special FX & ending are working, palette swap too, and unless I've missed something, I should concentrate on pixel art from now on. 1st level is totally done for that matter (maybe some more overlay, unless it shimmers.)

Nintendo released a survey asking for feedback on physical and digital games.

This is definitely the chance to make your voice heard about Switch 2 Game Key Cards.

To this day I wonder how different things would be if the SNES CD came out.

As a serial buyer of games I intend to play "some day," this whole Game-Key Card situation is going to save me mountains of dough. Perhaps I'll finally get around to playing those "some day" games 🥲
