The Resilience Institute (TRI) is a national, charitable organization in Canada. The TRI team works locally and globally with diverse partners on education and research initiatives that address climate change.
Meet the team! Dr. Jeff Baker is an ahpîkosan (Métis) person living in Treaty 6 territory in Saskatchewan, Canada and the Indigenous Engagement & Education Specialist at TRI. He is also serving as a Land-based Education Coordinator with the Redberry Lake Biosphere Region, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.

Last week in Belém, the #MountainPartnership put forward a proposal to hold an Annual Dialogue on Mountains and Climate Change. This proposal was well received by the Parties and will be further discussed at the UNFCCC climate meetings next June. #COP30

Tuesday in #Belém brought #oceans and wetlands to the forefront of discussions, including launching an initiative to restore 500,000 hectares of saltmarshes. On Wednesday, events centered on #gender equity and strengthening #resilience in agriculture. #COP30Brazil

During Week 1 at #COP30, The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) hosted a high-level event on the Adaptation Gap Report 2025. This new edition brings to light the current gap in #adaptation finance between what is currently available and what is needed for transformative #resilience.

By failing to proactively invest in #adaptation, the costs of responding to and recovering from climate-charged disasters continue to rise. This leaves communities trapped in a cycle of short-term recovery, without the resources needed for transformative change.

Did you know…Tainá Marajoara, #Indigenous chef and activist, is crafting meals for all #COP30 attendees using traditional recipes from the Marajoara people. These recipes highlight the importance of food sovereignty for resilience and the integral connections between people, land, and food.

Did you know...#COP30 is guided by a “Global Mutirão.” What does this mean? The Portuguese word “mutirão” refers to collaborative effort towards a common cause. In this case, the Global Mutirão is about uniting across political boundaries, taking action before, during, and beyond COP30. #COP30Brazil

The Resilience Institute’s president and CEO, Laura S. Lynes, is part of the UNFCCC Global Goal on Adaptation (GGA) technical expert group. The GGA aims to track progress in strengthening climate resilience and highlights what still needs to be done.
