I need to dismantle two bookcases so the electrician can replace the outlets behind them tomorrow but when I sat down, Spica, who had to spend the entire day with Matt instead of me, ran across the room to get in my lap

Tiles on the wall!! I'm feeling better about our choices; me going "how could this possibly look bad" at the tile store seems a lot more rational to me now than it did last night when I was sure it was going to be a disaster
A view into the bathroom from the stairs; there's cardboard taped to the floors and buckets and tools everywhere but there's a whole tiled wall with a window in it, white 12 × 3 subway tiles, and they look ok!

Black and white hex tile on the floor and black herringbone tile in the shower floor. Walls where the 12 × 3 white subway tiles will go painted a terrible mint green with some kind of tile prep material, and the window and seams painted a sort of dayglow red, also a waterproofing prep material of some kind

I am hopeful they'll get some tile installed today but am loath to make any predictions about progress lol
Gutted bathroom starting to look more assembled. Tile board is up everywhere, at least, and you can see where the niche will be on the shower wall. Lots of construction implements in the shower: bucket, shop vac, etc

Shower floor progress. Little by little. Poor guys have to do it after their regular jobs because they took off last week but my plumber took the whole week re-piping my house and I didn't know anything about it 😬 Probably going to add 10% when we pay them just to apologize.
Cement-y material used to create the sloped shower floor, with a panel of the black herringbone tile we're using in one corner. There's a plastic bin of screws/nails covering the drain and a red broom in the shower. Might be done by Monday. Or Tuesday. I'll get a shower by Thanksgiving. Showing the floor and part of the wall and the window. Between the valve and where the shower head goes, you can see the area they cut out for the niche. We couldn't center it on the back wall like sensible people because there's some old defunct ducting in the way but actually this will be more convenient.

Bathroom evolution
Room with a window and exposed lath, a pipe for the shower drain and toilet ring on the floor, and insulation in the walls, which makes a change from the nothing that was in there before lol Bathroom floor with a line of bricks marking the threshold of the shower, with a shop vac and assorted tools, plus the 6 inch black square drain cover we chose in preference to the 4 inch A white envelope clipped to another letter sized envelope sitting in a niche in the exposed wall. The envelope has "November 18 2025" written in it in purple ink and contains the note to the future owners who tear out the bathroom we're putting in. The second one has the note we found when we tore out their bathroom.
