Yes, discs can go bad. Film and burn. 16mm copies can rot.

But one thing film history has taught us is that titles are far, far safer in the hands of affectionate amateurs than they are with the studios.

And if I'm spending a lot of time listening to Qobuz, the percentage of new discovery goes up and you get things like a singer of early music repertoire dominating the list for a week, never to return again (I quite liked him, though).
If I pull out the CD player or vinyl, nothing gets registered.

Couple of things: the weekly lists lag a bit because I only synch my old iPod twice a week. If I spend a lot of time listening to music on my laptop, the amount of new albums goes up, as does the percentage that is work from my own former bands, The Hooded Crow and Alpha-Alpha.

It looks more or less the same as it does every years, though the second place for Sparks is a new thing, as is the high placing of my Mastodon friend M.E.R.E., aka The Qwyrdo.
