Are you a higher 40% (or top 45%) rate taxpayer who donates to charity via Gift Aid who's now doing your tax return?
Remember the charity claimed tax back at the basic 20% rate, you can usually claim now the rest back (and maybe then donate it too!)

Highly misleading headline (disappointing for @theguardian.com). The claim won because the company didn't follow proper process - there to protect everyone in these situations. Would hate to go back to a time where a manager can fire someone on a whim.
