I find the "paid protestor" line of thinking as odd as the "everyone's a Fed" line of thinking. Is your imagination so stunted that you can't even conceive of someone taking action on their own accord? Is your worldview so limited in scope that every political action must be driven by self interest?

My take on One Battle After Another is that it is a mistake to view it as a film with political answers. The politics of the movie are secondary to the story it is telling, and they are not directly related to the politics of our moment other than "ICE is bad, immigration crackdowns are racist."

I'm actually glad that military leaders were present in the room for this. I think it's important that the people who actually do things understand the priorities of their bosses and the disconnect between them

After any tragedy, especially highly publicized ones, info spaces get flooded with speculation, rumour, and misinformation. In these conditions conspiracy theories flourish and muddy the waters, pulling energy away from the hard work of finding and understanding the (often unsatisfying) truth
