Writer of crime fiction under my own name. Published author (starting Sept. 8, 2023!) of morally-deficient pulp novels as Clint Reno.

Whether it's F1 or MY DARLING CLEMENTINE or a novel by Philip Roth, I can never really go along with the supposed happy ending of a hero choosing to isolate himself.

BLACK WATER/Joyce Carol Oates
"20 Minutes"/James Salter
"The Snows of Kilimanjaro"/Ernest Hemingway

The common theme is Death. I have to give Hemingway the prize, but they're all worth your time.

My Christmas wish is to get electric wolves to threaten my neighbors' electric reindeer.
Is that wrong?

Since I don't want to type "Leviathan" a thousand times in the pirate book for a character's name, I looked up the etymology. Leviathan translates roughly to "twisted thing."
So, I looked up "twisted" in Old English...
Thus, I've got a character called The Writhen.

This is sane behavior, right?

Well, guess I wrote a horror sequence set a pirate ship careening.

I heard a snippet of a St. Vincent song on TV so I decided to go down a rabbit hole. I listened to six albums...
ACTOR
STRANGE MERCY
ST. VINCENT
MASSEDUCTION
DADDY'S HOME
ALL BORN SCREAMING

I only liked one, but I can't say my time was wasted. I should explore more music.

Another image by Chris Wormell. This is from his exquisite work in an edition of Edith Hamilton's MYTHOLOGY and I curse the publisher to the Hell of the Upside Sinners for only stating the artist's name in squint print.

(This is what I'd want for the first illustration in a fantasy novel I've been piecing together over the years.)

Researching pirate history, I was surprised to learn that some of them could have been Parker's ancestors. They didn't do all their heisting at sea. Sometimes, they made commando raids on land, knocking over entire cities.
