GSoC mentor. RNLI helm.
Know a bit about a lot. "Utter bastard" according to my best mates. I'll take that as a win.

It would almost be easier to bust the company and get a shell company to buy the assets for £1.
Utter joke.

Even then the capital sum would likely not be repayable. Just tax evasion charges.
Of course they knew all this.... Hence the shell companies.

"You wouldn't want to lose access too, or licensing for, or lose your subsidy" or whatever todays thing is.
"Linux" doesn't have a cash rich monopoly behind it to force such things.

Just a pretentious fanbois opinion?
Thanks for your rant.
Clearly I'm not entitled to either experience, or an opinion (fuck systemd too), but I'm happy not to be a sheep.
That is open source, but you are too much of a dickhead to realise.
Wind yer neck in.

It's mainly open source.
Not the same as "free".
Devs gotta eat somehow.... Do we all work for nothing?
So it can't all be "free".
But agree on the principle - give it a go.

We use FF from the PPA but never noticed that much delay.
But we have snaps permanently removed so hard to compare.
Interested to see what you find.

I guess a clean install windoze with contiguous blocks should be faster than a used one with stuff splattered all over?
(I have no OS preference 🤣🤣🤣)

I don't believe it.... 🤣🤣
Any traces of the calls to sites it makes in startup?
That would be the first thing to check?

Wasn't Linux.
Wasn't the card.
Wasn't the monitor.
Wasn't the driver.
It was someones shite packaging that broke.
"Dependency hell". Grrrr.

Like to see your stats on that.
The world is being force pushed to Wayland and given no real choice
Personally we'll be sticking with X until such time as I am confident Wayland is not just a Gnome devs wet dream. Had more than my fill of that lot.
Gnome 3 release killed it 🤦♂️

It takes time (how long to become a Windows 'expert'?). Don't try & rush.
It's also more about apps than OS.
Start using some crossplatform eg Firefox/Thunderbird/Libreoffice.
What won't run at all in Linux (Adobe...)? Alternatives? VMs?
Focus on that.
