Lutnick and Epstein purchased stock in the same company in the same round on the same day in 2013. The signing was in person.
Last year, Lutnick claimed he cut Epstein off in the 2000s and "I was never in the room with him… for business…. If that guy was there, I wasn't going."

NEW: In response to DOJ's request for a stay pending appeal of her Haiti TPS order, Judge Reyes questions the "suspect" nature of DOJ's "irreparable harm" arguments, orders DOJ to file a declaration about what actions DHS has taken "in expectation" Haiti TPS would end, and sets a hearing for 2/12.
![MINUTE ORDER. The Court has reviewed the Government's 126 Motion to Stay the Court's Order Granting Relief Under 5 U.S.C. § 705 and 127 4 Plaintiffs' Motion to Set Briefing Schedule. The Government took three business days from the Court's decision to file the motion. They now ask the Court to rule within one business day and three hours and do so without identifying any basis for this rushed timetable. Due to the serious issues presented in this litigation, Plaintiffs should be afforded at least the same amount of time as the Government to brief their opposition.
At the hearing on the Government's Motion, the Court expects the Government to articulate, among other things, how the irreparable harm and other stay factors weigh in the Government's favor. The Government contends that the Court "intru[des]... in the workings of a coordinate branch of the Government." Dkt. 126 at 22 (citation omitted). But missing is any concrete example of how the Court does so. This failure is particularly problematic in light of the Government's representations that it was "remote conjecture," "speculation," and
"theoretical" that it would detain or initiate removal proceedings against Haitian nationals if the Termination went into effect. Dkt. 92 at 42; see Dkt. 126 at 23-24. Either the Government does not have any concrete plans to detain and initiate removal proceedings against Haitian TPS holders if the Court stays its decision pending litigation and therefore its own irreparable harm argument is suspect. It is noteworthy. I guess the black people as monkeys thing is such a notorious trope it breaks though as more blatant and undeniable, there's no hedging the racism label with "apparently" or "critics say." But it's hardly out of character for the level of overt racism he expresses all the time.
I don’t know if this counts as a watershed moment or whatever but it is significant that even the NYT has to drop the pretense and call it what it is.
