She presented a poster and shared insights on the reaserch of incidental capture of megafauna and design mitigation measues to Reduce bycatch and advancing marine conservation. Then she joined a discussion on what fuels curiosity in science and challenges of securing funding for scientific research

Thanks to all attendees to the workhsop and their interest on the topics and the project. It´s been a pleasure to share knowledge and constructive discussions around ETPs bycatch and mitigation measures.

Presentations evolve around biology, ecology and species identification of these taxa. Attendees are also dealing with interactions with fisheries, mitigation techniques and best practices for safe handling & release of bycatch specimens (sea turtles, seabirds, sharks & rays and marine mammals).

This workhsop is organized by REDUCE project in collaboration with BirdLife International (BLI), the Partenariat Régional pour la Conservation de la zone côtière et Marine (PRCM) and the Institut Mauritanien de Recherches Océanographiques et des Pêches (IMRO).

Jacob González-Solís has expresed deep concern on the delay of authorizarion, from the national environmental administration, to collect DNA samples of marine turtles for genetic studies, which is affecting the research on the ecology of marine turtles in the Atlantic.
