It’s great to see the Albanese govt putting more effort and funding into recycling solar panels, in an effort that - according to the Productivity Commission - could save us billions, increase the uptake of solar, and help us reuse silver, copper, and aluminium.
The dirty secret in Australia’s love affair with rooftop solar
Nearly 4 million solar panels are discarded every year, but a new recycling scheme could turn trash into treasure.

Just remember that last year @albomp.bsky.social’s government approved a carbon bomb, the North West Shelf Gas project.

For those that pay attention to and respect climate science, and laws of physics and chemistry, you’ll appreciate why this is an issue.

The Australian Federal Police Commissioner only received the draft hate speech legislation yesterday, the very same bill Albanese touting to pass Parliament next week. This bill is a huge risk for police who will now have to be the arbiter at protests of t-shirts, banners, badges, chants. WTF.

The addiction to genocide of Palestinians is total
The Israeli military is reportedly planning to restart intensive military operations in Gaza in March, targeting Gaza City.
According to The Times of Israel, the operation would push the yellow line ceasefire demarcation west toward the coast of the Gaza Strip.

Being seen to be politically active when pressure is high is not as good as being genuinely politically effective. And that necessarily takes time and attention to detail; seeking and listening to good advice and taking great care with every word.

This is far too important to rush through.

I’ve worked in legislative scrutiny for two governments, and on many law reform submissions, and - in news that should surprise no-one - rushing through legislation is never a good idea. Human rights-focused laws are particularly fraught in Australia because we have no Cth Human Rights Act. 1/

In Albo's new antisemitism bill, the definition of "hate crime", which underpins the new regime to proscribe "hate groups" like the Nazis, specifically excludes "advocating genocide". That is, advocating genocide is treated as not being a racist hate crime. Now, why would that be?

Yes we are aware of what Premier Malinauskas said about Randa Abdel-Fattah today and no we don't think it's ok for a public official to talk about a private citizen in such terms.

The Adelaide Writers Festival now wrecked by the Adelaide Festival Board, half of which was appointed late last year: a marketing executive; a former politician; a local councillor/real estate agent; an airport manager; a lawyer; a media consultant; and a banker. Another public arts takeover fiasco.
