As a potty learning expert, I advocate for parents to be aware of the impact that disposable nappy use has on their child's physical and social development and their bladder and bowel health. If parents knew the true impact, baby pottying would once again be the norm in our culture.

Congratulations to @beckysauerbrunn.bsky.social! Many kids become distressed at the idea of "losing" their poop. A great way to prevent this is to introduce the potty from birth so it's always a familiar and accepted part of life and the transition to potty training/letting go of nappies is gentler.

Humans are not designed to wee and poo lying down. The ideal position is squatting which allows the bladder and bowel to fully empty. Helping your baby get into the right position aids healthy bladder and bowel development and prevents common potty training problems developing later.
