People do understand that the caucus leader has to be one of the current 47 democratic senators, right? Which of the other 38 members that voted no are we hypothetically replacing Schumer with? Who could have kept those 8 members from voting to end the shutdown?

I vaguely recall that it was difficult to buy and cook for one-person-meals. But there’s still an economical solution, which is just eating the same thing for a week at a time.

Certainly wouldn’t have happened if it meant given Dems the majority. Now that Rs have a solid majority and it would merely be a way to potentially ease pressure on herself, maybe more likely. But still not worth giving up being Approps chair

I’ve thought about leaving DC at various times, including in this last week, and the fact that our kids walk to their elementary school or take the city bus to the middle and high school- it’s always a top reason keeping me here
