Fairy knots - Legend has it if you find little knots in the mane it's because the Fae are riding your pony at night, braiding little stirrups into their mane and going on celestial adventures. She did seem a little tired this morning... #folklore #folktales

Spriggan - the Cornish piskies malevolent and grotesque cousins who guard the barrows, cairns and stone circles of West Penwith. Known to conjure storms, steal cattle and terrify travellers. Most frighteningly of all steal mortal children and swap them for changelings. #folkyfriday #Cornwall

Nos Kalan Gwav the Cornish - Kernewek 'Halloween'. Meaning eve of the 'first day of winter' or Kalan Gwav. An ancient celebration of the changing seasons. Or Allentide - the English name for Cornish Halloween. Traditional celebrations involve the exchange of red apples, divination games and feasting

The Knockers - ancient earth spirits of #Cornish #folklore that live underground. They warn miners of danger with knocking noises. Superstitious Cornish miners to this day appease the knockers by throwing the knob of their pasties to them.
