The mystery that is the Cornish Fogou. Their purpose unknown but my best guess is for rituals of death and rebirth. #wyrdwednesday Boleigh, Penwith

The depths of my procrastination knows no bounds when I have a deadline looming. It's the only time the flat gets cleaned! #writersky

Fairy knots - Legend has it if you find little knots in the mane it's because the Fae are riding your pony at night, braiding little stirrups into their mane and going on celestial adventures. She did seem a little tired this morning... #folklore #folktales

Making my own skin care from natural, organic, simple ingredients infused with organic home grown and foraged herbs. It's been a game changer for my skin staying away from prescribed petroleum based products and the preservatives in them.

Front light on my bike craps out on the pitch-black rural back lanes. I'm cycling down the hill plunging into the dark abyss. Add the hail driving into my face and crunching under my tyres. Unnecessary amounts of drama for one evening.

Menhir dit la Chaise-à-Margot: Margot's Chair - referring to fairies in Breton folklore. A smallish menhir #StandingStoneSunday which does indeed look like a seat. Part of the megalithic complex "La Lande du Gras" with 2 menhirs and 3 long barrows - see the nearby sites list on our page for more. 1/

Like an iceberg, there is more of these bluestone below the surface than above

Unlike icebergs, it's not because they're less dense than saltwater

A proud moment this summer: bagging a stone that isn't already on the @megalithic.bsky.social (very rare occurrence!). On the Beara peninsula east of Adrigole, a little way north of the Drumlave row. It involved crawling under barbed wire but then we saw there was a gate. #StandingStoneSunday

Cornwall council took away all the bins on our estate because apparently they can't afford to provide bins in low income areas. But if you don't live on a council estate you can still have the privilege of bins. The place is covered in rubbish already. How does this make sense!

Hares are nocturnal and active at night, leading to their association with the moon and lunar deities like Cerridwen and Andraste. Like the moon, the hare was believed to die each day and be reborn each night, making it a powerful symbol of immortality and rebirth.
Art my own.

I can't be the only one anxious about it being mid-November and nowhere near cold enough to put the heating on

Spriggan - the Cornish piskies malevolent and grotesque cousins who guard the barrows, cairns and stone circles of West Penwith. Known to conjure storms, steal cattle and terrify travellers. Most frighteningly of all steal mortal children and swap them for changelings. #folkyfriday #Cornwall

Nos Kalan Gwav the Cornish - Kernewek 'Halloween'. Meaning eve of the 'first day of winter' or Kalan Gwav. An ancient celebration of the changing seasons. Or Allentide - the English name for Cornish Halloween. Traditional celebrations involve the exchange of red apples, divination games and feasting
