Trying to figure out how Substack supposedly supports authoritarianism. The attached article indicates they may be more expensive and other options, but it didn't say anything about actively supporting authoritarianism.

One issue is that people's Bluesky handle may not resemble their Facebook name at all. So you sort of have to figure it out. A lot of news outlets, particularly local news, are still stuck with Facebook Instagram and X.

It is definitely my complicated. You really have to work at building your world. But it's well worth it. No Facebook ads. Some really good commentators who have smart things to say.

Ian, I am coming up to DC see my grandbaby (our first) on Wednesday. Excited, but I really do NEED to fly back on Friday if Saturday will be prohibitive. Please do keep us up to date with realistc posts about the possibility of flight cancelations. And thanks for calling out the hype.

Actually, I recall that the big storms of December 2009 and February 2010 were actually well forecasted in DC.
