And finally, this junction should work better for drivers too, because there will only be three roads meeting here, not five, which means a shorter cycle of traffic lights. And the smaller junction should mean fewer drivers blocking the yellow box.

Third, for public transport users. A bus gate and controlled exit for the 73 coming out of Drimnagh, and a lower risk of cars blocking the Luas line because the junction they cross is smaller.

Second, for cyclists - there are three existing or planned cycle routes converging at this junction. Along the linear park, on the canal to the east, and on the canal to the west. All reaching a dead stop here with no safe way to continue.
