You know that adjective to describe how Spurs typically crumble in the face of opportunity, ‘Spursy’? I’d like to propose ‘United-y’. Dismal times for us United fans.

Amazing stuff Down Under from England’s bowlers!

I’d love to see Wales join Scotland and England at the World Cup. As far as I recall, it’s never happened. I can see all the British teams doing well and England (gulp) winning the thing.

And the way this internal strife will be spun by Labour’s opponents on its right is that Labour is fundamentally soft on asylum and by extension on immigration and on the ‘legitimate concerns’ of Reform-inclined voters. Starmer, his team and his government are rubbish at politics.

It’s a great headache to have. England look much more like credible contenders to win the World Cup than I can ever recall. Can they beat Spain, Argentina or France? Not a definite ‘nah, no chance’.

Wouldn’t be at all surprised if Trump launches a ‘special military operation’ on Venezuela or elsewhere as distraction from the Epstein thing. My big fear with this imbecile lunatic is that at some point in his presidency he launches nukes - he really doesn’t care if millions die.

Thatcher v ‘wets’, Blair v Brown, Brexit nutters v anyone with a brain, the Johnson years… UK politics always gets mired in tedia. I guess it’s easier for Prime Ministers to deal with court intrigue than address the country’s actual needs.

Listen, 10 S, if whoever did it doesn’t have the guts to fess up, it’s detention for the whole class.

Doing my nightly check in with the news… and looks like maybe yeah, this time, it’s this latest avalanche of evidence of collusion with and probably participation in child sex trafficking that will finally bury Trump.🤞🏽

Have to say, the court intrigue and gossip across the realm is much less juicy under Labour than the much more internecine, regicidal Tories. Dominic Cummings’ feud with, first, Carrie Johnson and then King Oaf himself was proper 🍿. McSweeney vs Streeting? Meh.

And so it begins.

#langsky

Hopeless. The BBC has apologised for clumsy editing. The UK government should now defend the BBC as an institution not urge it to kowtow to the imbecile tyrant.

#langsky

I’m more a cinephile but I do love a great night of London theatre. The Lady from the Sea at the wonderful Bridge Theatre is a turbo-charged modern rewrite of Ibsen’s mystical original. All sorts of layers and powerful performances play out on a clever, watery set. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Personal Shopper (Olivier Assayas, France, 2016). I meant to watch this on Halloween, recommended to me by a friend as a superior modern ghost story. And it really is. Some terrifying moments but also some infinitely sad, moving ones - haunting in every sense. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

If you’ve got Apple TV (might be on Prime, too) and you like well-paced, nerve-jangling British thrillers you’ll want to give Down Cemetery Road a go. Two episodes in, I’m hooked. And Emma Thompson and Ruth Wilson are both brilliant. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I mean, sure, strip him of his titles but if there is evidence that this guy was involved in sexual abuse of teenage girls he should surely face trial, and if found guilty, be imprisoned, no? Just like anyone else?

First there were caffs where you could get a cuppa, then coffee shops with fancy Italian-style -ino’s and - iato’s. Now there are matcha bars. I am about to consume my very first of the ilk. It’s a matcha latte pavlova (I know!). Wish me luck!

Rightie-oh. Glad that’s now clear. Took an age, though - and concerted pressure from people with a brain and a heart. ✊🏽

#langsky

Yup, I didn’t think it would take long and it hasn’t. Netanyahu’s plan (and it may work) is to force all survivors of his genocide out of Gaza before formally incorporating it into Israel - facts on the ground and all that.
