Underrated tweet

Came to say this. These interactions - all of them - are text predictions. When we say it is ‘lying’ etc we are imputing onto the machine a human capacity that it does not have. It predicts text responses based on tokens (more or less), nothing else. (It’s very good and convincing at this though!)

Thank you! I think I saw another paper on this as well, can try and dig out the reference. Psychology diving down this rabbit hole is... to be frank: bad.

slightly tangential, but I think i've seen psychologists push to using LLMs as subjects for experiments!

Have you considered that this ad is, in fact, scientifically illiterate? Heritability estimates are many things but they do *not* say that IQ is ‘X% genetic’.
