Laika leads to an *insane* flow state once you get the controls down

it is so good at making you feel cool

"staked out their entire position [by feel] then work backwards to justify their position."

that's always how it goes, innit

again i'm nodding along the whole time. then i remember that this is being positioned as a *bad* thing, somehow

act 3 and the emotions it models are messy like that. i think it's among the best strokes the game takes

e33 is almost painfully videogamey. you fall off a bridge into a blood pool to do a party combo move. its ffx. its mario rpg. its 15 second attack windups

sanity prevails. someone has finally been normal about this game 🥹

i wouldn't call that mishandling at all. the opposite, really.

it's good when player initiative is rewarded and results in different people having different experiences

has anyone been normal about this game, since it came out?

I think it's also the case that video game consumers don't think as much about the artists who create the work they enjoy. It's an issue in all forms of media, but it's hard to explain to people that the 'franchise' they enjoy isn't good because of the IP, but because of the creators.
