Used to be raphaelptw on the birdsite. Guy with nerdy/geeky interests who's pretty bad at most of the usual nerd/geek stuff. Will probably use this more for following than posting.

The pendulum swung a little bit away from "embedded racism is the natural order of things" and people freaked out so badly that "a Black man who is near people protesting immigration raids is a Klansman" is apparently an acceptable position for a federal official to advocate.

The whole idea of people being "influencers" and other people saying that they're being influenced by them is pretty wild. As if I would walk into the office of some very rich and powerful man and say "Hi, I’m here to manipulate you to do my bidding," and he'd say "Great plan! Let's start!"

Unfortunately, that quote is *at best* aspirational. Yes, a lot of us want to to without those things, but clearly, many others love both of those things.

(And I'm absolutely no fan of Brecht. Talentless hack who only got popular for having the, from his subculture's perspective, "right" politics.)

Nah, *his* complaint about the liberal bourgeoisie is that they're not conservative aristocrats.

See also that right-wing cartoon from a while ago showing black-clad dominatrices flogging chained men in a quarry, with the caption "This is the future liberals want". They are so attached to the idea of strict hierarchies in everything that they really can't grasp the idea that... (1/2)

Thank you! Ah, so "pfp" is short for "profile picture"? That's what had confused me.

Keep in mind that they were from pre-modern society, and most of them did farm work in their day jobs. That might have given them a higher level of basic physical fitness than many just-signed-up recruits in modern militaries.

(Just me speculating; I don't really know anything about this stuff.)

Of course you're right, but sorry, I'm a bit clueless - what does "statue-pfp" mean in this context?

Ah, thank you!

May I ask how she had ever become your congressperson in the first place?

I'm unpleasantly surprised that that orchestra even has Trump-loving members.
