Luckily I had the original on my laptop. It was scanned from negatives about fifteen years ago and uploaded to Google Photos around the same time.
I guess it's the digital equivalent of spilling coffee on a physical picture

Anyway, apparently this bug has been investigated and a fix should come out soon:

The help when I search on this error is hilarious:
"You may get this error if you mix standard header files (for example, Windows.h) and your own files." - yeah, can't have that. Using Windows.h and our own header files? Also how do header files cause a flaky linker error.

Also, really? LNK1000 unknown error? Is it a crash? What is the problem? I've hit this flaky build error multiple times. I can "fix" it by building again, but in the year 2025 that seems inappropriate

Yeah, but that whole "work" thing isn't really what I want.
And Microsoft in particular has more bureaucracy than I would like. I know that it would be mutually beneficial if they just gave me money and let me fix stuff, but that's not how they work

The last update seemed to nuke all of my file associations. Huh. Edge is the default for all web-page related types. Funny that

Despite well meaning advice I decided not to fix my muted-audio problem by changing my OS and every piece of software that I use. And I'm happy to report that the issue has resolved itself.
I'm not happy with the uncertainty this implies, but the simplicity of the fix is appreciated.

When I worked on Chrome there was some interest in Dev Drive as a way of reducing the always annoying anti-virus overhead that slowed our builds. I never got a chance to test it

I did not create a Dev Drive. I'm not going to be doing a lot of development so I don't want to do any more setup than necessary

I turned off Smart App Control. I shouldn't have waited so long. Now the program I'm working on starts instantly, instead of with an 8+ second delay.
Smart App Control is incompatible with being a software developer. That's fine, but please document this!

Ah. Yes.
Sometimes we get benefits for the extra overhead (richer capabilities) and sometimes the slowness is just sloppy coding. Or ads in web pages.
