I wonder. If you can effortlessly (or even with a sadistic additional flourish) slaughter sentient animals, do you have (moral) limits? I’m no expert on Aristotle but if having a virtue entails having them all what would an absence of virtue permit?

There is no moral basis for the extent of suffering humans commit on animals, sentient species. The absurd cultural tales of humanoid extraterrestrial species (Star Trek, Space 1999, countless films) provides for the only moral force at play. It gestures against cannibalism.
