Conventions CANNOT become about appealing to the mainstream. Nor can they become about rubbing elbows with the folks “most likely” to support them back.

A lack of ability to see criticism can persuade users to think that means there’s (unanimous) support.
That, AND it’s collecting your data for whatever purpose it wants, & I bet at least a few of them you’d be horrified by.

Find yourself kicked out of one con (regardless of the reason), and you may soon discover that it’s not the only one that stops interacting with or responding to you…

The problem is with calling out problems with con staff for artists is it can backfire and affect our livelihood and income. But if artists are too afraid to speak out, the problems are ignored and buried. This is common across all cons and fandoms, silence because of fear of retaliation.
The Den staff for TFF/TFS/Nightmare nights and many other Dallas area furcons have been an issue for years. Abuses of power and harassment in groups they make for the con, then claim the group is not affiliated when people speak up about their behavier.
