A WIP of the monster I'm using for the game.
The anglerfish inspiration is pretty important as the monster gameplay will be all about tricking people into giving themselves away. Though a bit more proactive than the actual fish.

A longer update this week as I got a good bit done. Worked on a lot of back end connection stuff, but wanted something more visible so managed to progress it far enough to get some in game voice working, with the sound sphere system.

Making stone walls convincing and not repetitive was difficult, but happy with my current system. I wanted to get the feel of the more haphazard stone walls I've seen in rural Ireland, without looking like they'd fall apart.

Spent this week adding pick up items. I wanted to make it so hovering over items highlights them to give you a sense of what you're looking at, even in the dark. I'm pretty happy with the results.

Took a bit to decide on things that worked with the overall look of the game (especially hair). Also trying not to overthink it given a lot of the game will be in the dark.

Might try to stick to weekly Sunday updates for the game dev stuff, so I can pretend I have any form of consistency.
Spent this week building a procedural house. Does it need to be procedural? No. But some parts of the game are learning exercises.

Here's an early look at my effect for seeing via sound.
The visible sphere stops in a given direction whenever it hits an object, to give a sense of the volume of the source's surroundings. Works through walls and other fun stuff.
