This is across all fields. If you are in Computer Science and in this situation, please reach out to me (or directly to our Head of School).
The University of Sydney is recruiting senior and mid-career academics "within the top 5–10% of academics in their field, with a strong track record and availability to relocate to Australia within 6-months".
If you're a psychologist/neuroscientist and are interested, get in touch with me soon.

Do I trust Adobe Acrobat or Latex? Adobe says I have 11.96pt as font size but I used the incantation
```
\documentclass[12pt]{article}
\usepackage{times}
```
in my latex source.

Re-reading "The Rithmatist" by Brandon Sanderson. I am vaguely bothered that the invention of procedures for chalklings was not the big undiscovered magic.

Continuing my exploration into the capabilities of LLMs (bsky.app/profile/rahu...) I decided to see if LLMs can solve much simpler problems where the information is completely available in text (i.e. does not require multi-modal capabilities) but does require reasoning.

[Simon Wilson](simonwillison.net/tags/pelican...) has an excellent observation. LLMs seem to have a hard time when generating SVG images from text, with more capable LLMs performing beter.
