JJK also escaped cancellation by ramping up the pace while facing its potential end so as someone who grew up thinking slow burn was the most sublime form of storytelling i've been increasingly inspired by the newer shonen jump series

i just re-read Kagurabachi (peak fiction) after glimpsing an interview where the author mentioned wanting to empty his drawer of ideas quickly to maintain an intense pace (and boy is it intense (peak fiction!!!)

i rambled about one piece's unappreciated revolutionary themes on twitter a couple years ago so now that anti-government protesters in madagascar and other places are literally using a jolly roger i gotta put my money where my mouth is

my personal analysis thread (guess that's what this is) for Akutami Gege's Jujutsu Kaisen, my favorite shonen manga is finally complete!

⚠️contains big spoilers for the story's ending⚠️
September 1, 2025 at 5:28 PM
that's weird
i thought i was building up to a more positive conclusion here

anyway that's why i love JJK!
and i love sad stories about how sad life is!
sad stories are extremely important (and good for you)

🖤🎀🖤🎀🖤🎀
thank you Gege
and thank you sad artists of the world
🖤🎀🖤🎀🖤🎀

AND THAT
is the beautiful conclusion of Jujutsu Kaisen!

and despite some fans' dashed hopes and compulsive need to theorize about sequels JJK is a throughly concluded story

and i suspect that Mahito complaining at the end might've been a subtle preemptive dig at the more unrelenting readers

simply being able to exist alongside someone
that can be enough
that can be love

that is what Sukuna understood in the final chapter
it's the answer that reached Fushiguro Megumi
and put an end to the endless cycle of curses
September 1, 2025 at 4:22 PM
it was all building up to this

an admission to not knowing what a proper life is
or a proper death
or what i feels like to be somebody else

but also an understand that life is cruel to everyone
and we can use that pain to connect to one another
we don't need to curse each other
or ourselves
September 1, 2025 at 4:10 PM
and by this point, like Sukuna, Yuji is also acutely aware of how cruel and harsh life can be

this is the main reason i love JJK
since the the beginning, it conscientiously and consistently portrayed the chaos, pain and unfairness of life

and it wasn't out of sadism
it wasn't for shock value
September 1, 2025 at 3:47 PM
and even that was nearly not enough because of course, Sukuna took precautions

the final, deciding moment of the fight is both Sukuna and Yuji asserting their opposing life philosophies to Fushiguro

with Sukuna arguing for selfishness
and Yuji arguing for radical empathy
September 1, 2025 at 3:33 PM
in the end, none of the battle plans and techniques they had were strong enough to put down Sukuna

what undid him in the end was the Fushiguro connection

and he wouldn't even have had that one weakness to exploit if he wasn't an incarnated sorcerer so Uraume was absolutely right
September 1, 2025 at 3:11 PM
there's differing opinions and valid critics on the quality of the execution but in the final analysis, it is important to understand that the good guys were truly outmatched and even half of one of the final chapters is dedicated to explaining that
September 1, 2025 at 3:02 PM
when it came to pure battle prowess, Sukuna was leagues above everyone else and it wasn't even close

this point is crucial to the story's theme and Uraume hammers on it multiple times, although it's easy to want to dismiss them as the words of a terminal Sukuna-glazer
