Seems legit. I'm from the "modems measured in baud" era, and my face says “card me" while my joints say “please stop standing like that.”

I am so sick of people acting like they know me better than I know myself. I am so sick of people rationalizing away the parts of me that they don't like. "Well-meaning" my ass, if you meant well you'd respect what I'm actually telling you instead of trying to sanitize me into something prettier.

I'm a Canadian lesbian with no interest in Heated Rivalry. Do I need to surrender my citizenship and live at sea?

My company doesn't let us eat at our desks anymore. I'm light-sensitive; the lights above my desk are removed. The break room lighting gave me a headache, and I had to hide in a dark room to recover and missed a meeting. I came back and my entire team had been eating at their desks in solidarity. 🥺💜

I just had to upload a three-part 7z to the internal wiki. I was quite tempted to use RAR files instead and include an ASCII-riddled NFO with the word "greetz" in it.

Wow do I love this track! The only thing it's missing outside the game is the whine of the charge beam warming up. It's almost like it was written with that little sound effect in mind.

Re-reading my timeline, I realized that I'd be painted as a loud Leftist™ among the greater internet community. Why is "I want people to be treated with dignity and respect" a political stance? Why is "Nazis are evil and bad" non-obvious? These used to be universal viewpoints regardless of politics.

“What if everything we know about autism is wrong? [...] The popular idea that autistic people don’t have rich, emotional lives is simply not true.”

Gee, this actually needed a study? Says a lot about how the broader world sees us.

The refurb market is full of surprises. My HDMI encoder turned out to have been customized for a big streaming tech company, hardware and software both. It doesn't look any different from the prosumer version, but it can't take public firmware builds.

It's also boringly, predictably stable. 😌

"[Nadella] says it's on employers and job seekers to, more or less, just start using AI."
"We" must do something to justify your product? The product that we didn't ask for? The one for you keep pushing on us? So you can keep pushing it on us while we keep not asking for it? The fucking entitlement.
Microsoft CEO warns that we must 'do something useful' with AI or they'll lose 'social permission' to burn electricity on it
Workers should learn AI skills and companies should use it because it's a "cognitive amplifier," claims Satya Nadella.

In the Dresden Files books, White Court vampires make horror movies to feed on fear, run beauty salons to feed on pleasure. Well, printers are White Court tech built to feed on frustration. They work exactly well enough to keep victims ensnared and miserable without abandoning the machines entirely.

I've heard there's this amendment all about giving individuals and their state the freedom to bear arms in case there's a rogue federal government infringing on their rights. surely its supporters are now are up in arms and standing up for states rights in this moment, right?

Dr. Evil was the pop-culture prototype of the kind of pathetic evil we get nowadays. The submarine that looks like himself, the phallic rocket ship, the fragile ego, posturing as cool while the whole world laughs at him. At least Dr. Evil had sharks with frickin' laser beams attached to their heads.

Just what nobody asked for: smaller batteries, thermal throttling, a backpack full of gizmos, and the near inability to actually use the laptop on your lap for all but the most basic tasks. 🙄
