Watching y’all finish this part on here is giving me a little more strength for my final draft finish line (Dec 15). Excited for your book, @johngmarks.com! cc @unlawfulentries.bsky.social

This is a super fun, paper, Josh. I love the continuation of some of the 19th c. dynamics.

FWIW, I use Slaughter-House b/c it is the name of the company & makes for clarity from the circuit case (Live-Stock Dealers & Butchers v. Crescent City Live-Stock Landing & Slaughter-House, 15 F. Cas. 649 (C.C.D. La. 1870) (No. 8,408)). But I agree w/ folks saying consistency is what's important.

Who gets to be Salmon Chase? I've always wanted to see Tommy Lee Jones properly cast as Andrew Johnson, whom he actually resembled!

The Lamar confirmation battle is featured in the opening few pages of the last chapter of my book! Alas, this accusation does not make it there, but this, too, is quite the exciting moment.

100% Field & Chase alone make the second half really fun. There's an episode (that sadly did not make it into my book) in which someone mails Field a bomb in early 1866

I'm flying for both ASLH and the event the next week, Anna. Which one do you think I'll make it to?! Neither set of flights are canceled yet, but I might put my money on both...

So excited, Anna! Can’t wait to read it. Excited to see you & celebrate in a couple of weeks (assuming flying is a thing then)!
