It’s such a funny book while also being so true to type. I recommend it all the time to academics trying to get into reading novels.

I guess this explains why the university couldn’t even spare $3.25 mil for WPSU 🙃

Totally agree this is so fascinating & much needed! Ryan Quintana at Wellesley College is doing some work in this area, incl. looking at the laborers who built the Panama RR & the various folks living in Panama & Nicaragua as part of US companies & otherwise. But the subject is vast and so important

Thank you for these links, but I know these kinds of pictures are easy to find on the internet. I'm looking for ones that I don't have to pay for and don't belong to news orgs.

Supreme Court-interested friends &/or DC people: does anyone here have a panoramic-style picture of the building with the high protective fence around it from 2021 that they would be willing to share with me? Bonus if it's black & white, though not necessary. Thx in advance!

I’m having intro chats with dissertation students this fortnight, and one of them asked which historians I’d recommend for beautiful writing they could absorb to further develop their own writing style.

So, gang, which are your favourite *writers* among historians, any time, any topic, any place. 🗃️
