Unsurprisingly, Isaac (Steel) Crowley and Rachel Williams quickly establish a relationship. With six year-old Coral and Victoria the pug in the mix, we immediately see Steel's softer side when it comes to the three new females in his life, which overjoyed me.

Of course, I was also elated when he commanded bedroom activities 🥵 and allowed his fierce protectiveness to shine through. Holy cannoli! It is gritty and dark (check your triggers), as well as sweet and loving.

In other DFMC news, it was great to see the other women and how they've come together. I also love seeing how their lives and families have grown. Plus, there are crossovers - by mention and by presence - of other MCs in Harley's universe, which I always love to see.

I received an author's copy of the audio book. I do love the narrator, Umi Markkanen. She consistently provides a good listening experience. 🎧💛🎧

She needs to figure out a way to slow down and address the things in her life that she's been avoiding for months and years. He is being pushed into a corner and, like all the other Davenports, needs to marry to do what he desires with his inheritance. Thus, the marriage of convenience plot takes form.

They are a bit of an odd couple, but one that I like together. I like that he makes an effort to woo her after his initial, bumbled attempt at a marriage of convenience proposal. I like the ways they challenge each other and show their support.

The Drew storyline gets a little... weird. I honestly think the story could've done without the extra special twist. It is a different perspective, but it didn't seem to completely fit in with the rest of the story.

I received an author's copy of the audio book. I really like the narrators, Mackenzie Cartwright and Shane East. It's made even better because they're in duet! 😍 🎧❤️🎧

This is one of Marteeka's books that I really need to be longer. Francis (Mars) Mars and Scarlet have horrific stories. Not only do I wish we got more of their respective histories, but I also need more of them happy and knowledge that there's more on the horizon. Yes, yes, I know that I'll see them again in future books to be able to check in, but it's not the same.

Before I turn into a whiny itch, I have to say the Lemon nearly steals the show. OMG! She has me in freaking stitches with her antics and brazen actions. She lets her fierce flag fly, and I love every. Single. Moment! It is absolutely, positively awesome!

I've been reading this series in order, which I highly recommend, so I knew coming into this that Derek (Riptide, Rip) Score was instantly mesmerized by Sloane Hargrove when the MC stumbled upon The Order in the middle of the desert.

I love Sloane's strength and determination. I love how she works to rise above her circumstances, even without knowing how. He actions are admirable, and I love how she continues to work towards getting those she cares about to safety and keeping them safe and thriving.

The affections that grow between Rip and Sloane are deep and realistic (and hot), taking several weeks for them to trust one another in any meaningful way, sharing more and more of themselves one little bit at a time. I truly love how organic it is, especially when you consider the circumstances.

I don't want to give anything away, but when the story returns to the clubhouse, I adore how welcoming the men and women are, how they work to be respectful of triggers, and more.

I received an author's copy of the audio book. The narrators, Phillipa Miller and Michael Norman Johnson, continue to provide good narration to this sometimes dark and twisted series. 🎧🧡🎧
