Because Christianity is hegemonic and omnipresent, you feel fine taking from it. For those who are not culturally Christian, furthering Christian symbolism by declaring secular feels like an intrusion bc it further others us.

It boils down to a difference without distinction when you’re dealing with populations who are not bathed in cultural Christianity by choice.

And I think one of the reasons this conversation is always so exhausting is it requires Jews and other non-culturally Christian people to explain cultural Christianity to people who are culturally Christian in order to explain why this culturally Christian thing isn’t secular. It a little exhausting
