When scientists define living vs non-living systems, it reminds me of the debate/roast between Plato and Diogenes. In our case, DNA, carbon-based, reproduction & cell division are common but inaccurate descriptors. In Plato's case, The Academy went on to add "with flat nails" after the fowl incident
