Viktor: "Time for "Be gay do crimes!""
November 28, 2025 at 11:51 PM
I do make a promise (at least, I hope I implied it) that Viktor is going to live! And thank you so, so much for the kind words and the inspiration!

Jayce leaned in to kiss Viktor's brow before getting up, moving to close the blinds before making his way out the room to do what he could to ease Viktor's recovery.

The news of Viktor's cancer had been a harsh slap of reality, even with the hopeful prognosis.

"We'll get through this." Jayce spoke softly, brushing a strand of hair from Viktor's relaxed features. "We'll just do what we do best."

The grasp of sleep quickly took hold, quickly pulling Viktor into the embrace of desperately needed slumber as his breathing finally slowed and evened out. Jayce remained close, settled at the edge of the bed as he watched his partner sleep.

settled on Jayce's shoulder as he let himself be carried until finding himself on the well missed familiar comfort of their shared bed.

Viktor sank into the pillows, the weight of the blanket providing security that was not afforded to him over the last few days in the hospital.

Viktor gave a weary nod, wrapping his arms around Jayce's neck in a rare moment of vulnerability and trust. Jayce took it as the confirmation he needed, an arm sweeping under Viktor's knees and lifting him off the ground. Viktor's head lolled,

Viktor hovered over the toilet once more to spit the water out, not daring to let it into his stomach in fear of the cycle starting anew.

"Let's get you to bed." Jayce suggested, arms once again wrapped around Viktor's thin frame after placing the cup back onto the counter.
November 28, 2025 at 7:58 PM
"At least you're home." Jayce provided gently, grabbing the cup of water and holding it to Viktor's lips. Viktor sipped carefully, swishing it around his mouth to clear it of bile. With Jayce's help,

wiping a sweat slicked forehead as Viktor struggled to catch his breath.

"They weren't… kidding when they said this would be rough." Viktor finally spoke, words harsh against his worn vocal cords. A brittle laugh escaped him, humorless as the last few days had been.

Viktor clung to the porcelain to remain upright before Jayce was wrapping his arms around him, encouraging Viktor to fall into the embrace bonelessly. They sat there on cold tile, Jayce carding his hands through Viktor's chestnut locks,

could feel how tense a misaligned spine was as fingers gently pressed against it. Pain meds would be needed at some point, but both of them knew there would be no point now.

A soft cough escaped an acid-rough throat, followed by a quiet gasp for air.
November 28, 2025 at 7:58 PM
No words were exchanged. No gentle "there there's". Just a simple unsaid gesture of quiet support as exhausted muscles overworked themselves.

He could tell Viktor was in pain with the trembling and heavy breathing,
November 28, 2025 at 7:58 PM
Jayce entered the small room, iced water settled onto the bathroom counter before he was kneeling next to Viktor. Gentle hands carefully pulled back sweat-soaked locks of hair out of a pale face, holding them out of the way as a broad hand gently rubbed against a thin back.
November 28, 2025 at 7:58 PM
"It would be far worse." the nurse rationalized. It didn't do anything to ease Jayce's guilt.

Now Viktor hovered huddled over the toilet, body desperate to purge the poison from his body from a stomach that held nothing, not even acid.
November 28, 2025 at 7:58 PM
It was a vicious cycle, one Jayce found himself hating, guilt eating at him at being able to do little.

He had begged the nurses for better anti-emetics, trying hard not to shout in desperation when he was told Viktor had been given the strongest they had.
November 28, 2025 at 7:58 PM
the only thing Viktor could manage to get down for moments at a time the ice cubes Jayce eventually rushed out to get, both desperate for Viktor to feel even the slightest bit of relief, only for water to come up moments later.
November 28, 2025 at 7:58 PM
They had obtained Viktor's usual fare of foodstuffs for whenever he felt even the slightest bit of stomach unrest. Ginger ale and saltines sat on the small rolling table next to Viktor's bed.

They remained untouched,

Poison so corrosive that Viktor couldn't leave the room for part of the day while it was being infused.

Not like he would have had the strength to do so once treatment started.

They thought they had been prepared.
November 28, 2025 at 7:58 PM
They had been warned the drugs would be harsh as the needle had been inserted into the medport that had been surgically placed into Viktor's chest. It was carefully controlled poison, after all, that came with the hopes that it would kill the cancer faster than it would Viktor.
