It’s almost time! This year, the model hasn’t identified any upsets. The conclusion seems to be that the seeding is accurate, with the closest matchup being the Thorns vs. Wave in Round 1. Otherwise, it’s straight down the pipe; Kansas City comes out on top against the Washington Spirit.

Moultrie listed as questionable presents a wrinkle, but make no mistake, on paper this Thorns squad should make short work of the visiting Utah Royals.
However, Tanaka and company have given us plenty of reasons not to count them out. Their resilience will need to continue on the road.

Houston and Racing will kick us off this week, and both are finding success! Taking everything into account, the model is predicting a DRAW and given the recent run of matches ending that way, it’s hard to argue.

I disagree. Both are underperforming in what I would consider key areas for their position: goals, points added, and primary assists. If anything, Shaw stands out because she consistently gets into more dangerous positions (xGoals, xAssists, and xPoints Added).
