I think the last big blocker for many may be retroactive history sync, which I read somewhere is coming pretty soon.

(It's just in-app currency for cosmetics or nitro, you get it by "watching" videos or "playing" an .exe with the right path suffix.)
I do agree that Discord's network requirements are ridiculous for a chat app, though.

That said, not knowing German here is definitely logistically difficult in many ways.
The pizza place near me often has recent immigrant employees. Sometimes ordering is difficult, but they're clearly learning so I don't really mind it that much.

Small hint to avoid this: You can prompt them by phrasing tasks as assessments ("… has (issue) [because …]. It would be better to …") or as personal plans ("I'd like to …).
