Announcing RADDLE, my new word transformation game.

raddle.quest

It’s a twist on conventional word ladders — instead of changing one letter at each step, you’re changing the entire word based on a clue. But it’s up to you to determine which clue to use.

We've got a Halloween Whodunit up on Raddle. Several guests at our Halloween have witnessed a murder. They've given testimony in the form of Raddles. Can you solve them and figure out who done it? raddle.quest

Mystery Theme #2 is up and running. I think you'll enjoy this one. We've got about 30 solvers so far, after just two of the six theme Raddles. Can you join them?

If they make another Star Trek movie, can we have James Gunn direct it? Not because of his directorial skills; I just think it’s about time a narrative included Gunn’s Chekov.

Think of a part of the body near the top. Remove every other letter and you'll get a part of your body at the bottom. What parts are these?

I'm running my latest game next week at Demo Brewery. It's about vampires! We have six tables open:

This rules. I want to see a dramatic recreation of this scene.

Updated the share text on Raddle to be more friendly, putting the theme words up top, and using brighter and easier-to-scan emoji. Thanks to everyone who asked for this and offered suggestions.

Saw this guy’s vest from across the room at the Art Institute and /immediately/ clocked it was Ferris Bueller’s. Then I saw the shirt of the man he was walking with. Had to approach. Just two dudes cosplaying for fun. Heading to Wrigley later today. (I asked about renting a Ferrari. They tried!)

Just noticed something … odd … about the name of the protagonist on Poker Face. Nice work @rianjohnson.bsky.social

Can you ESCAPE THIS PAGE using only the clues hidden in the map? Hint: You’ll probably need some hints. Get hints (and the full-page map) in the debut issue of Paper Airplane, only available at PaperAirplane.pub.

I understood that reference 😛
I love raddle.quest because it has that satisfying feeling of being in sync with the person you’re playing with, one instance after another of “I understood that reference.”

Today’s puzzle is the first time I’ve been completely stumped, and it feels oddly like the 2nd lobster scene in Annie Hall.

The Superman marketing team missed an opportunity to rename this part of Chicago's Ashland Ave. to Superman Ave. (Since Clark St. turns into it.)

Confirmed: I won’t do any of that.
Saw a thread of puzzle alts & felt the need to say that Raddle rules, and the creator, @pzlr.org would never publish BS defamatory nonsense about Mamdani, or use his platform to attack trans kids, or any of the other horrors of the NYT so maybe check out his cool puzzles instead?

Take the last name of a 19th century novelist. Change one letter to get a word for someone who enjoys pot. Or, change a different letter to get a different term for the same. Or, remove a letter to get yet another term for the same. Who is it?

Oh no, now I need to find a new favorite bit of trivia.
Incredibly, the last living grandson of John Tyler, the 10th President of the United States (1841-1845), just died at the age of 96. “Just three generations of the same family stretch almost all the way back to the founding of our country”. [kottke.org]
