You don't deserve the label "progressive." Democrats, liberals, and centrists are just conservatives in clown make-up. A satirical circle jerk of people either too ignorant or too egotistical to understand that they are just as much fascist as anyone on the right.

When you make fun of addicts, fat people, poor people, physically and mentally disabled people, sexual deviants - you are telling countless full people with lives and loves and dreams that they are only worth love and care so long as they feel a deep and ever present shame for simply being.

When you make fun of the president for potentially being incontinent you are not making fun of that man you are making fun of me and others like me.

When you say that the speaker of the house has a "lady body" you are making fun of me and others like me.

I was worried for my safety in an urgent care based on an extremely common medical condition because I was taught that my incontinence was a punishment for my moral failure growing up.

I had to show my naked body to a nurse today, and I had a panic attack. Not because I was getting naked, but because I had to show my diaper to a stranger.

I feel intense shame for something I cannot control. Something that is not my fault, because I was taught being disabled is a choice.

Disabled and queer people don't get to be "people" as such. We are pets you neglect until we step out of line. And those "normal people" who step out of line are demoted to disabled/queer status to promote conformity amongst the in group.

If you feel comfortable saying that your political enemy should be ashamed of their disabilities, deformities, queerness, you are saying that you think those things make you less worthy of love. You are saying the only reason you don't say that to your friend is because they are a "good one."

These political figures don't give a fuck if you shame them for possibly being disabled or queer, but your peers do. Your disabled and queer peers care a lot, actually.

When you mock someone for what marks them as other, you alienate everyone for which that otherness applies. Not just "the enemy."
