Had every intention of working on a project of mine tonight but ended up playing Neuroshima Hex digital instead. Not feeling deterred though, sometimes the random break to just chill is the medicine needed to work better the next time

I’ve said it before but this video captures it so well: There is no long term future for fossil fuels and it’s an economically flawed idea to think otherwise. The US will eventually return to renewables but we’re falling way behind in the meantime youtu.be/KtQ9nt2ZeGM?...
You are being misled about renewable energy technology.

Had fun playing Ship of Fools with daughter and nephew today. Also enjoyed some time playing Isle of Sky: From Chieftain to King (digital) with bros and dad

Had fun playing Ship of Fools with kiddo, hung out with her at Caffè Nero while studying & having dinner, watched some Polish cooking shows, & did a little pretend play. Turned out as a good daddy-daughter day

Started playing Ship of Fools with kiddo this week. It’s been fun but usually when I play stuff with her I turn down the difficulty. Doesn’t seem like there’s a setting for that here. Despite that it’s fun & she’s kept interest. Might try this with the bros & dad sometime

Had a 4-player game night tonight and played some Merlin. When my mind is stuffed with work & other things playing a good game helps me decompress, and a good Feld play does wonders

We lost a wonderful family member yesterday who will be long missed. Kathy was not only a very sweet person but someone my daughter & her cousins truly loved. Providing once again that life’s short & you’ve got to appreciate those around you while you can

It’s back to school tomorrow after 2 days off for snow. I may not have had the best time with the weather but I’m so happy the kids did. Life’s short, good to appreciate it

I avoided going out as long as I could but ultimately needed to shovel. This is way too much snow; there’s no room to put it. It’s also massively demoralizing that it’s still snowing and the more snow is predicted
January 27, 2026 at 6:17 AM
I walked a mile as the snow started, slid and fell (I’m fine outside a little bruising), drove home super cautiously, salted the walk & steps, and then shoveled for about an hour, only looking back to see how all my effort was quickly wiped out. And daughter asks how can I not enjoy the snow? 🫤

Pre-blizzard shopping was crazy but we’re all set for the snow tomorrow. Finished off Duck Detective: The Ghost of Glamping with kiddo too so we’re going to have to find our next title

Only one bro around for family game night this week so we played Fleet: The Dice Game. We played the physical game across coasts by playing our own copies and just relaying dice rolls through voice communication. Worked well & enjoyed the game!

Getting to sleep at a reasonable hour tonight. Definitely need it but the sacrifice last night was worth it, demo today seems to have gone pretty successfully

Well…up a tad later than I’d hoped but I got some sweet visuals in the app I’m demoing so I think it was worth it 😎

The old norms are gone. There’s no escaping that, even if control is reclaimed. And yes, there were always problems, but progress, as painfully slow as it was, was happening. This is a setback, a big one, & totally unnecessary but we will make things better again someday. Be good to each other folks

America 😫

I remember when a good amout of snowfall meant a day off. Well instead of that I shoveled for about an hour and still worked a full day. The upside though is I’m excited by the code I’m working on now

We babysat my youngest nephew today. Great kiddo & we had fun but I am…and I do realize this is my chronic condition these days…pretty beat. Not particularly thrilled by the loads of snow & I’ve got a full work day tomorrow. To work late now or sleep & be more charged tomorrow? Tough choices

Watched our nephews and daughter so bro & sis-in-law could get out for her birthday weekend. Youngest nephew & I spent a good chunk of time “fishing” with his toy set. A bit repetitive but embodied the essence I remember of actual fishing 😝

Little bit of gaming with dad & the bros back in Deep Rock Galactic tonight. Been a stretch since our last play but it didn’t feel like it

Smaller group of only 4 but game night was a success as we took on different dark elf houses in Tyrants of the Underdark: Board Game. I didn’t win but did add some nice chaos with my clerics

I’ve been taking advantage of the rise in temp to get back to taking my daily walks. Plan was to get some mental peace but daughter insisted on joining me today (likely to avoid doing homework). It was a very chatty walk in the end, though I didn’t say much

After years of slowly working our way through My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic we finally reached the end today. It was good and a bit sad. I think we’ve been watching through this show most of her life 🥲

Wife & I have been enjoying playing MicroMacro (digital) for a while. The digital version plays really well; feels like a nice step up from doing a puzzle together but with a cool crime detective bent. Recommend if you want something chill to play solo or with a close friend
