Can tell this is the Onion because in reality it's more likely to be the other way around.

Talk about "only part", that BBC report is based entirely on the prosecution's initial allegations and a narrative from witness statements many of which had to be quickly backtracked when challenged in court. It might not be peaceful protest, but it’s certainly not terrorism either.

Unite with people on this campaign & you'll likely find many supporters for the next one.

People willing to campaign on that will mostly be the same people campaigning on this. But no campaign will get anywhere without solidarity. Divide and conquer, getting people to fight over which struggle to prioritise, is the establishment's strategy.

Most people on remand will be released on bail unless they are considered a danger to society. These hunger strikers are being denied bail because the government declared them "terrorists" for alleged property damage.

Why is Channel 4 News publishing on substack? Do you not have your own website on which to publish news stories?

It's also wild that they think trying to ban specific chants won't massively backfire. Have they learned nothing from their attempt to stop people saying "I support Palestine Action"?

I suppose it is technically possible to be a human rights lawyer by just following procedure and precedent without having a single moral bone in your body.

I'm feeling sick thinking about how many of them will be left to die before it meaningfully makes the news and the government get more than fringe efforts from the media and MPs to hold them accountable.

Difficult to know where to start, isn't it?

Big picture: betrayal of every moral principle he ever claimed to stand for.

Brits aren’t anti-renewables. They want clean energy to lower bills, create local jobs and improve nature and green spaces.

The opposition is manufactured.

Don't believe it.

And call it out everywhere, all the time

It's often difficult to know if people don't understand the statistics (which are admittedly complicated) or if they're deliberately ignoring them. Either way it's frustrating when we're fighting for the environment & against rising fascism to also have to fight eco-fascist narratives as well. 😪

And I'm feeling conflicted about the hunger strikers. I struggle to say I support their action because it goes against the principle of self care in activism. But I'm not in their position, unjustly imprisoned and with no other option to resist. I don’t want them to die. I wish I could do more.
