Today I wrote a brief reflection on two sermons from Pauli Murray as they relate to the current Israeli genocide of Palestine. Then as today, the intrinsic humanity and continued oppression, and now genocide, of the Palestinian people is clear.

The National Guard is still patrolling DC, carrying handguns & long rifles, patrolling vibrant community spaces in packs to intimidate residents, especially Black residents, of the city.

Keep that in mind as you see the videos of them handing out pizza & coffee in MN.

This is essentially what governments did in the late 1900s and early 2000s with respect to Nazis. Whether you were a lowly concentration camp guard or in Hitler's inner circle, if there was evidence you were a Nazi, it was straight to jail with your walker.

It worked.
Maybe instead of identifying specific ICE agents who do particularly heinous things, we could just penalize everyone who was on payroll at the agency starting by a certain date.

He will without any exaggeration destroy America, reduce this country to a lawless mafia state, start a civil war, start a world war, kill us all, or all at once.

And the biggest obstacle to preventing this remains not his objective strength but that OUR LEADERS WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THE THREAT.

Did ICE abandon those vehicles intentionally so that when weapons and other documents were lost they would have a pretext (warrant?) to then search leftist activists’ houses in Minneapolis to recover ‘stolen weapons’?

One of the biggest modifiers in driver aggressiveness i experience is whether I have a pannier/rack or not. When I decide to have a ‘fun day’ and ride a nice road or mtv bike for commute instead of my basket/pannier clunker commuter drivers are way more aggressive on the same route/same time
I've noticed that drivers are way more aggressive around me when I'm biking in adverse conditions. I think it's because they don't expect or think cyclists should be out there, but also, as Eric notes, that we are more likely need to take the lane. People also drive way too fast for the conditions.
Hello drivers. You may have noticed that there is still some ice on the ground. If you see cyclists or pedestrians in unexpected places on the road, please understand that it's because the road is the only goddamn thing that got cleared. Don't you dare honk. Don't you dare.

MS NOW: Why haven't you gotten a dozen Dem senators & NYC cops, flown to Minneapolis & said to the guys wearing masks 'We've brought people who know how to operate'

SCHUMER: You're right. We need police officers to tell ICE, 'You don't know what the hell you're doing. You need real police training'

If calling a state secret police agent a murderer for committing murder will lead to more murder by the state secret police, it sure seems like the problem is with the secret police
Homan: "We gotta stop the hateful rhetoric. Saying this officer is a murderer is dangerous. It's just ridiculous. It's gonna infuriate people more which means there's gonna be more incidents like this."

At a @pslweb.bsky.social protest I heard this chanted repeatedly. Hadn’t heard it ‘in the wild’ yet but felt hopeful
I realize that all the "we are going to win" inspiration posting codes as aesthetically liberal (being left is being unimpressed) and invites the responses you'd guess from a certain genre of more radical than thou poster but still surprised at the particular condescension strategies people go for

Rep. @AOC: I understand that Vance believes shooting a young mother of three in the face three times is an acceptable America that he wants to live in, and I do not. That is a fundamental difference between Vance and I. I do not believe that the American people should be assassinated in the street.

Abolish and prosecute ICE. They did a murder in broad daylight today. Imagine what they're doing in the closed facilities we're somehow not even allowed to see.

The Trump administration claims there was no need for Congress to authorize the military attack in Venezuela because the military was merely supporting a “law enforcement operation” (i.e., executing arrest warrants against the Maduros). That’s wrong on multiple counts. 1/20

I still remember Ma telling me five years ago that if these insurrectionists on January 6th were Black, then they would be dead. Five years later, they are almost all alive, out of jail, and their guy is back in the White House. If that’s not White privilege, then I don’t know what is.

Trump and his cronies can try to dress this up, but it is an illegal act of war to replace Maduro and grab Venezuela's oil for his billionaire buddies.

It’s not about drugs. If it was, Trump wouldn’t have pardoned one of the largest narco traffickers in the world last month.

It’s about oil and regime change.

And they need a trial now to pretend that it isn’t. Especially to distract from his sinking under Epstein and skyrocketing healthcare costs.

Which means it’s now the US administration’s position that US courts can hold foreign presidents, but not the US president, accountable for crimes.
