We got talking.” He slowed down. “There was a boy and we got talking” was pretty much the whole story, but he wanted to relive it properly—to make Ellen understand how great the afternoon had been. “He’s cute, and he’s a dork and we talked all afternoon about books.” “So, has Library Boy read all your favourites?” “Nope.” Niall grinned. “Okay. I’m surprised that’s not the end of the conversation as far as you’re concerned.” She raised her eyebrows. “You have vetoed people over lesser crimes.” “But he wants to. I started him on them today. So, it’s even better. I get to watch him discovering them. We talked through what he’d read so far, and it was like getting to read them again for the first time—having all that excitement about what might happen.”

When you support indie authors, you're supporting real people who will notice the difference (and their cats). My fluffy, happy stories matter because we deserve worlds without doom and gloom to escape to.

First read of the holiday done. I don't mind giving mixed reviews to dead people who can't get upset about it. Felt clunky, but it's good to find rep from other eras, just like it's good to read outside your own culture.

The absolute intentionality of it, explained in the author’s note, which nearly made me cry: I was determined that in fiction anyway two men should fall in love and remain in it for the ever and ever that fiction allows.
